UPI Scammer: The methods used by scammers to trick individuals are always evolving. The “father’s friend” scam, in which con artists pretend to be a friend or acquaintance of the target’s father and frequently demand personal information or financial assistance, is one scam that has been going around for months. But recently, an ingenious young girl impressively overcame a con artist.
A video posted on X shows the girl talking on the phone with the scammer, who is posing as a friend of her father. She knew it was a scam and feigned cooperation in an attempt to stall the issue or potentially obtain more information. The con artist attempted to persuade the teenager that her father had requested that he send funds to her UPI account. The scammer boldly said that he would use the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to transfer her Rs 12,000.
Quick-Witted Teen Outsmarts Scammer
He first sent her a phony SMS on her phone, claiming to have sent her Rs 10,000. The girl saw that it was not from her bank, but a personal number. The man then claimed that he attempted to con her into returning Rs 18,000 by sending her Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 2,000. The quick-witted girl altered the fictitious SMS to make it appear as though she sent him Rs 18,000 back. “There, I have also sent you Rs 18,000,” she said. “Maan gaya main aapko, beta” was the scammer’s way of admitting defeat after being caught off guard and hanging up.

The girl’s immediate response made the scammer speechless at that moment.
