Telangana: As the number of train passengers in the country is increasing, the central government is renovating 1,300 railway stations at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. In Telangana, 40 stations are being developed at a cost of Rs 2,750 crore. While Cherlapalli is already available, Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated Begumpet, Warangal and Karimnagar stations today. Begumpet station will be staffed entirely by women.
In the wake of the increasing number of train passengers in the country, the Central Government is taking steps to provide world-class infrastructure and new travel facilities to the passengers. In this context, the ‘ Amrit Bharat Station’ scheme has been launched to renovate the railway stations in the country. Under this scheme, 1,300 railway stations across the country are targeted to be redeveloped at an estimated cost of about Rs. 1 lakh crore. The construction of 103 railway stations has already been completed across the country.
As part of the ‘Amrut Bharat Station’ scheme, the Railways Department has taken steps to redevelop 40 railway stations in Telangana. Rs. 2,750 crore has been allocated for this redevelopment work. As part of this, Cherlapalli Railway Station has already become available to passengers with modern facilities. Cherlapalli is the largest railway terminal in Hyderabad city . Trains have already started operating from here. Recently, the construction of Begumpet, Warangal and Karimnagar railway stations has also been completed, and are now available to passengers.
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated these three railway stations from Delhi. The layout of these stations has been wonderfully designed to resemble airports. Along with international standards, world-class facilities have been provided. These stations have been designed to ensure that passengers will not face any problems for the next 30-40 years. The facades and main buildings of the stations have been constructed to reflect the culture and traditions of the respective regions.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and State Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy participated in the inauguration of Begumpet Railway Station. Union Minister Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma and State Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy participated in the inauguration of Warangal Station. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar participated in Karimnagar Station. Begumpet Railway Station has a special feature. Here, all the duties including security are performed by women employees. From the station superintendent to the keyman, there are women employees at all levels. Union Minister Kishan Reddy commented that this is a great example of women empowerment.
The Central Government has taken steps to construct several new railway line for the development of railway infrastructure in the state of Telangana . Currently, the work of 22 new railway lines, about 2,529 km long, is underway in the state at a cost of Rs. 39,300 crore, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said earlier. New lines are being set up between Vikarabad-Krishna railway line, Secunderabad-Kazipet, Secunderabad-Wadi, Dornakal-Gadwala, Dornakal-Miryalguda. Some more are in the proposal stage. If these are made available, passengers will get better facilities.
