Telangana: Lizard’s Tail in Soft Drink Bottle; Two Hospitalised

Lizard’s Tail in Soft Drink Bottle: A ghastly and not-so-common experience was seen at Patnam Highway Restaurant at Peddapur of Sadasivapet mandal, when two patrons were faced with the horror of seeing a lizard’s tail in the bottle of their soft drink. The ghoulish find came to light on Thursday night and kept the guests in a state of nervousness, as well as raising grave questions about food safety standards.

Hospitalisation as a Preventive Measure

Two boys from the next village came to the restaurant for dinner and asked for a soft drink to have with their food. They drank and spotted something strange swimming in the bottle after they had already consumed half of the liquid. They were scared and poured the rest of the liquid into a pot and saw the tail of a lizard swimming in the beverage.

Scared of food poisoning and medical hazards, the clients themselves went to a hospital and got themselves treated. Although none of them showed any serious symptoms of illness, the doctors thought that it would be better not to take any risks and kept them under observation.

Complaint Filed & Investigation Underway

After the traumatic incident, the aggrieved people complained to the food inspector on the morning of Friday. The authorities were apprised of the grave lapses in hygiene, and a probe was launched into the modus operandi of the restaurant.

The news of the contamination went viral on social media, with images and videos of the soda bottle leading global news. The scandal created a public outcry among consumers, with authorities tightening food safety controls further and conducting strict checks on restaurants in the area.

Food Safety Concerns & Public Outrage

Since food safety violations are a primary concern, such instances point to the necessity of strict hygiene in restaurants. People are now asking for more responsibility, transparency, and better quality control in restaurants to prevent such health hazards in the future.

With further investigation, the restaurant will be legally penalised, and something must be done to the people responsible for this lapse. Such an incident serves as a wake-up call to food regulatory authorities to make sure restaurants adhere to sanitation regulations so the health of the public is not affected by such neglect of duty.
