Free Laptops: The Revanth government has given good news to the differently-abled students pursuing higher education in Telangana. It is ready to provide them with free laptops. Along with differently-abled students, this program has been taken up with the aim of helping those suffering from various types of disabilities to live freely in the outside world and pursue higher education without the help of others.
The Department of Empowerment of the Disabled, Elderly and Transgender Empowerment, and Disability Empowerment Organizations are jointly inviting applications online for providing assistive devices for the financial year 2024-25. Officials believe that these devices will not only make the daily life of the differently-abled easier, but will also improve their education and employment opportunities.
As part of that, laptops, tablets and smartphones will be provided to students pursuing degree and higher studies. Apart from them, retrofitted motorized vehicles, trading autos, hybrid wheelchairs, battery wheelchairs, battery tricycles, three-wheeled chairs , regular wheelchairs, hearing aids, hand sticks, crutches, smart canes and MCR kits will be provided free of cost to those in need.
All districts will be provided with devices based on the population of the disabled. Out of these, valuable devices will be selected by the district level screening committee, while the rest will be provided to the eligible ones by the district welfare officer. Disabled people who have not received devices in the past can apply for these. People who are missing legs, arms, eyes, mentally disabled people, and deaf disabled people can apply. Disabled students pursuing higher studies can apply for laptops, smartphones, and tabs.
You have to apply online through the website tgobmms.cgg.gov.in . The last date for this is June 18. During the application process, details like certificate, name, address, Aadhaar, phone number etc. will have to be included. Only one device will be provided to each applicant. Therefore, the officials suggest that eligible candidates should apply only for the device that is essential for them.
This scheme will improve education and employment opportunities for the disabled and increase their self-confidence. In the digital age, laptops and smartphones are essential for higher education and access to information. This decision taken by the Telangana government can be considered an important step towards the empowerment of the disabled. It will make them more active participants in society.
