Telangana Student shot dead in the US: 3rd Incident in 5 Months!

Telangana Student shot dead in the US: The family of 26-year-old G Praveen, who went to America to study from Telangana, has claimed that he was shot dead in America. However, the circumstances of his death are not clear. Praveen’s cousin Arun said that Praveen was studying for an MS in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On Wednesday morning (Indian time), US officials informed his family about his death. Some of Praveen’s friends said that his body was found riddled with bullets.

What Happened?

Arun said that Praveen called his father on Wednesday morning, but the father was sleeping, so he could not pick up the phone. He said that Praveen’s parents were in shock after knowing about the incident. US officials told the family members that the cause of death would be known after the post-mortem. Praveen, who studied B.Tech in Hyderabad, went to the US to do an MS in 2023. He came to India in December 2024 and left for the US in January this year. Praveen’s family hails from Hyderabad’s neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.

Another 2 Incidents!

Notably, at least two Indian students from Telangana were allegedly shot dead in the US. One student was from Khammam in November last year. The other student was from Hyderabad in January this year. Now, with another Telangana student’s death, this marked the 3rd incident from the past 5 months.

These incidents shocked the entire nation as Indian students were being shot within a short gap. These incidents serve as a warning for students studying in the US. They need to stay safe and increase precautionary measures to ensure their safety. The increased risk of death in the US is making students think twice about studying abroad. In particular, 3 similar incidents in the past 5 months raise concerns for students’ safety in foreign countries.
