The Telangana government has issued a notice that the Telugu language should be a compulsory subject from 1st to 10th classes in all the boards of education. This is going to be started from 2025-26. This order has been passed for the betterment of the students which will help them grasp their mother tongue.
The government has issued orders to replace the standard Telugu “Singidi” with Simple Telugu “Vennela” with code 089 as per the CBSE subject list for the class 9th from the academic year of 2025-26 and for 2026-27 of class 10th academic year in ISCE, CBSE and IB. This proposal from the Director of Education has been accepted by the government of Telangana. Yogita Rana Secretary of School Education, has issued the orders today (Tuesday) replacing “Singidi” with “Vennala.”
Why is it important to study Mother Tongue:
Studying the Mother tongue at the school level will make us know about the cultural identity, this will also help in better communication, and more than everything this will help in building confidence. Learning from the school level will develop a strong foundation from the basics, critical thinking, and also help in comfortable communication. Research says children who are studying their mother tongue are better at understanding the curriculum.
The government’s initiative is going to make all the students study Telugu. This compulsory Telugu subject will bring the basics of the mother tongue and also help in building a strong foundation for the children. This rule in all educational institutions will help children build their skills in learning their culture and also build an emotional connection.
