Kashmir: The Telangana government has initiated steps to safely evacuate 80 Telangana tourists stranded in Srinagar after the terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Helpline numbers have been set up to help them. Minister Jupally said that coordination is being done with central agencies to safely evacuate the victims.
The terrorist attack on Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22nd of this month has shaken the country. 26 people were killed in the firing on tourists. After this incident , a high alert was declared there. The tourists who had already reached there were trapped in a situation where they could not return. Tourists who had gone to Srinagar from several districts of Telangana state are panicking. It is learnt that around 80 Telangana tourists are trapped in a hotel in Srinagar. They have released a video requesting the government to take immediate action and safely evacuate them to Hyderabad.
Among those stranded there are 20 tourists from Hyderabad, 10 from Warangal, 15 from Mahabubnagar, and 10 from Sangareddy. Two families from Medak town are also reportedly staying in the hotel. All of them had gone on a trip to Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday and were stranded in Srinagar after the situation became tense after the terror attack. The main roads there were damaged due to cloudbursts and heavy snowfall, making it difficult for tourists to move around. Thousands of tourists have cancelled their trips and are hoping to leave safely, but are facing serious difficulties due to the lack of transport facilities.
In these circumstances, the state government has become alert as Telangana residents are also among the tourists trapped in Kashmir. Helpline numbers have been set up for the protection of Telangana tourists. State Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that steps are being taken to bring them to safety. He said that coordination is ongoing with Telangana Bhavan officials and central agencies in Delhi for this. Also, the minister has issued instructions to tour operators and travel agents to immediately provide details of people who have gone on a trip to Jammu and Kashmir. The minister suggested that those trapped in Kashmir or their family members can call the government helpline numbers 94408 16071, 90106 59333, 040 – 23450368 and get help.
