The Best 650cc Retro Bike: RE Classic Or BSA Gold Star

The Best Retro Bike In India: There has been a slight increase in the excitement of the Indian mid-capacity retro motorbike market. The prestigious brand’s expanding 650cc range now includes the Royal Enfield Classic 650. The new Classic, which will replace the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, is aimed at those who enjoy classic design, a comfortable, upright posture, and the unique thump of a twin-cylinder engine. The Classic 650 is more than just another motorbike; it is a contemporary tribute to the beloved Classic 500, which was introduced earlier. It combines traditional design elements with contemporary technology to satisfy current performance and emission standards.

However, Royal Enfield is not the only company competing for the affection of vintage riders. Last August, Classic Legends brought back the venerable BSA brand in India along with the eagerly anticipated Gold Star 650. The BSA Gold Star 650, which is already well-known to enthusiasts abroad, brings its history and the promise of pure vintage motorcycling to Indian roads. The two bikes will compete for supremacy in the new classic space because they have comparable specs and vintage appearances. This is how the two compare to each other.

BSA Gold Star 650 VS RE Classic 650: Design

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 incorporates design elements from the smaller Royal Enfield Classic 350 to further enhance the brand’s iconic classic style. Its large fuel tank, tastefully curved fenders, twin chrome exhausts, and an extensive selection of paint jobs make it stand out. Its comfortable and upright riding attitude, which prioritizes comfort, makes it perfect for regular journeys. The BSA Gold Star 650 adopts a purist’s view of retro motorcycle design, furthering its dedication to classic style.

BSA Gold Star 650 VS RE Classic 650: Specifications

The 648cc parallel-twin engine of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is air-cooled. This has 46 horsepower and 52 Nm of torque, making it ideal for a relaxed yet active driving experience. The engine’s throaty, characteristic exhaust note and abundant low-end power are attributed to the 270-degree crank. Both the Classic 650 and its competitor have slipper clutches to facilitate downshifting when riding hard, and the six-speed transmission offers smooth gear shifts.

The BSA Gold Star 650’s 652cc single cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled, and equipped with a four-valve cylinder head makes it rather torquey. It generates a maximum torque of 55 Nm at 4,000 rpm and 45 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. Although it lacked the Classic’s five-speed transmission, its main objective was simplicity rather than adding a cog for additional gear.
