This 88-Year-Old Reporter Predicted Iran Strike Two Days Ahead

88-Year-Old Reporter: One individual, Seymour Hersh, had already reported it before anyone else did, before the airstrikes illuminated the Iranian skies. Hersh once again demonstrated why he is a legend in investigative journalism by operating his Substack at the age of nearly 88 and continuing to outperform governments, intelligence leaks, and every newsroom.

He released a thorough exposé on June 19 that showed that American naval troops and B-2 bombers were planning a “coordinated assault” on Iran’s strategic underground nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. According to anonymous intelligence sources he quoted, Congress and NATO partners had virtually no control over the impending strike.

88-Year-Old Reporter Predicted US Strike on Iran:

Many people dismissed it. Some called it unrealistic. But Seymour Hersh had already proven them wrong two days earlier, on Sunday, when President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes and claimed the targets had been “obliterated.” The U.S. launched the attacks late on June 21, striking three major Iranian nuclear sites. Satellite images and eyewitness accounts confirmed that high-precision bombs had hit deep underground facilities and surrounding infrastructure. This happened despite Iranian state media’s efforts to downplay the damage.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported no abnormal radiation levels, which raised eyebrows. Observers began to speculate: Were the sites ever fully operational? Or did Iran move its sensitive materials before the strike? Either way, the situation casts doubt on Trump’s claim that he has “wiped out” Iran’s nuclear program. Hersh has a track record of spotting what others miss. His 2023 exposé on the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage followed a similar path. He linked the attack to U.S. operations, a claim initially dismissed, but later confirmed by leaked investigations. The Iran bombing story followed the same arc: first silence, then disbelief, and finally, confirmation.

However, Hersh’s reporting signals a deeper shift. Nearly 60% of Americans now rely on social media, newsletters, and independent platforms as their main sources for breaking news. Why? Because these platforms offer speed, raw reporting, and a growing alternative to the conventional media, many no longer trust. Hersh often accuses mainstream journalists of staying too close to those in power to ask the tough questions. He calls it exactly as he sees it.

Iranian officials have pledged to strike back “at a time and place of their choosing.” Meanwhile, Trump has faced little criticism at home. Many in his party have defended the strike, calling it a necessary move to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Yet, perhaps the most striking headline is this: an 88-year-old reporter broke the news first. Seymour Hersh still picks up the phone, investigates thoroughly, and trusts the story, not the noise. While influencers chase clicks and algorithms shape headlines, Hersh lets experience lead. In 2025, experience won again.
