1. Air India Flight 855 (1978) – Arabian Sea Crash

A Boeing 747 went down in the Arabian Sea seconds after a departure from Mumbai due to instrument malfunctions and pilot disorientation. Everyone aboard, 213 people, perished, which made it the worst in India’s aviation history.

2. Air India Express Flight 812 (2010) – Mangalore Tragedy

A Boeing 737 veered off the runway at Mangalore airport and plunged into a gorge, and 158 of 166 people on board died. Eight were rescued.


3. Air India Flight 182 (1985) – Kanishka Bombing

Although the plane crashed off the coast of Ireland, it was an Indian flight. The bombing killed 329 people, the deadliest terror attack on an Indian flight.

4. Charkhi Dadri Mid-Air Collision (1996)

Two aircraft a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 747 and a Kazakhstan Airlines Ilyushin, were involved in a collision in the air off Delhi, resulting in 349 fatalities. It remains one of the most fatal mid-air collisions in the world.

5. Indian Airlines Flight 113 (1988) – Ahmedabad Crash

The aircraft crash-landed in a field during landing near Ahmedabad in poor weather, claiming 133 lives.

6. Air India Flight 403 (1982) – Bombay Airport Fire

A tough landing caused the plane to catch fire and claim the lives of 17 individuals, but left others seriously hurt.

7. Indian Airlines Flight 491 (1993) – Aurangabad Crash

The plane crashed after it hit a truck during takeoff, claiming the lives of 55 people on board.

8. Alliance Air Flight 7412 (2000) – Patna Crash

A Boeing 737 aircraft crashed as it tried to land at Patna airport, claiming 60 lives.

9. Air India Express Flight 1344 (2020) – Kozhikode Crash

The plane actually overshot a tabletop runway during torrential rains, killing 21 people and injuring others.

10. Indian Airlines Flight 257 (1991) – Imphal Hills Crash

The aircraft crashed into a mountain when the pilots committed navigational mistakes, and 69 lives were lost.
