The National Weather Service’s Ruskin office, which monitors the Tampa Bay area, reported that the storms brought hail ranging from the size of peas to quarters. Forecasters said an upper-level low-pressure system is sweeping across the Florida peninsula, intensifying the region’s typical storm activity. According to Fox Weather, this heightened atmospheric instability, caused by colliding sea breezes, has led to strong wind gusts, hail, and the potential for brief tornadoes, all common in early summer storms.
