Tragedy at Fish Prasadam Event: 77-Year-Old Dies

Fish Prasadam Event: A huge tragedy has struck as the Nampally Exhibition Grounds is gearing up for the distribution of fish prasadam, a form of offering to relieve respiratory problems like asthma. An elderly man, who was standing in a queue amidst a huge crowd to receive fish prasadam, collapsed and lost his life. This heartbreaking incident has filled the distribution area with a sense of sadness. With his death, it has once again become clear how crucial the safety of the elderly , the disabled, children and women is during such huge spiritual celebrations that attract lakhs of devotees.


 

Died of a heart attack during Fish Prasadam Event

The deceased in this unfortunate incident has been identified as ‘Satyanarayana (77)’ from Medak district. According to initial estimates, he suffered a massive heart attack and may have breathed his last in the crowded queue, officials said. Satyanarayana’s death has come as a shock to the fish prasad distribution organizers as well as other devotees in the queue. It is unfortunate that a devotee who came with a hope lost his life in this way.


 

The specialty of fish prasadam

The distribution of this fish prasadam, which has been carried out by the Bathini Goud family for generations, is known as a traditional treatment for respiratory ailments, especially asthma. Lakhs of devotees from different parts of the country deeply believe that receiving this prasadam will provide relief from diseases. The distribution began this morning and will continue tomorrow (June 9). The government has made elaborate arrangements for this grand event. Around 140 RTC special buses have been allocated to control the rush of devotees. Traffic restrictions are in place in the vicinity of the Nampally Exhibition Grounds.

The organizers have set up 42 special queue lines for the convenience of devotees. The entire ground will be under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Tight security is being provided by over a thousand police personnel. Entry will be allowed through the fourth gate for VIPs, the third gate for the disabled and the elderly, and the general devotees will be allowed through the Ajanta gate. Emergency services like drinking water, medical camps, and ambulances have also been made available. Although the authorities are taking all precautions to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the past, the tragedy has created chaos.

In such crowded places, especially in long queues, it is imperative for the elderly, the disabled, children, and pregnant women and women to take extra precautions. Officials have said that the elderly and the disabled should not go alone, but must go with a helper. It is better to know the timings of the distribution of prasadam and the details of the queues before traveling. Officials and police suggest choosing times when there is less crowd as much as possible.
