Background: Ceasefire Violations and Heightening Tensions
PM Modi personally took this matter in his hands and held a meeting at his home. Although the government has made it clear that the ceasefire was only an understanding and not an agreement. The violation is still a violation as the lives have been offered for the safety of the nation.
The meeting follows a day after India and Pakistan signed off on a ceasefire, ending all hostilities on land, air, and sea. Reports indicate that Pakistan breached the ceasefire hours later, and India retaliated. The Indian Armed Forces intercepted Pakistani drones and missiles aimed at Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan, without any civilian targets being hit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi organized an emergency high-level security meet at his home on May 11, 2025, to review the India-Pakistan border scenario amid recent ceasefire breaches. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, and the tri-services chiefs participated in the meet.

India’s Strong Stand on National Security
During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reaffirmed India’s unyielding position against terrorism, saying: “India has taken very serious notice of these violations. We call upon Pakistan to act responsibly and prevent further escalations.”
Besides, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar underscored the point that India will continue to safeguard its sovereignty and make national security a high-priority focus.
