The tensions between Pakistan and India have heightened further with India’s Operation Sindoor that came in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Turkey Joins Pakistan Against India, in a dramatic turn of events, has publicly sided with Pakistan, which is threatening to see a larger geopolitical movement in the region.
Turkey has been among the few countries to remain steadfast with Pakistan during the current conflict. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan criticized India’s military action as an “unprovoked violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.”.
Furthermore, intelligence suggests that Pakistan utilized Turkish drones to attack Indian military targets in Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab. These drones, allegedly controlled by Turks, have raised alarms regarding Turkey’s direct role in the war.
India’s Response to Turkey-Pakistan Alliance
India has pursued a measured and strategic line in its action. Government sources are reported to have affirmed that India is conducting ‘Custom Match Attacks’, targeting only terror infrastructure and refraining from attacking Pakistani military bases or civilian targets.
Furthermore, India’s S-400 air defense system has been able to shoot down several Pakistani drones and missiles effectively, bringing an end to further escalation.
The world has been cautious in its response to the support of Pakistan by Turkey. Though Israel has vigorously supported India, demanding harsh measures against terrorism, the United States and Britain have called for both countries to dial down tensions through diplomatic negotiations.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Pakistan’s longtime allies, meanwhile, have steered away from Islamabad, an indication that there is a changing regional calculus.
A country like Turkey, that recieved help from India when no other country stepped forward, its entry into the India-Pakistan conflict. Against the country that helped, India has given a new twist to the crisis. While India carries on its targeted attacks against terror infrastructure, the international community continues to keep an eye on proceedings and looks forward to a negotiated settlement aimed for peace With tensions escalating, India’s defense policy and global alignments will determine the course of this war.
