UN Security Council: Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a peak in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The situation on the borders is like a salt fire. Pakistan fears that India will definitely retaliate against them. In this context, the United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting. Pakistan will bring India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty to the attention of the United Nations. India has accused Pakistan of being involved in the Pahalgam attack, but Pakistan has denied this.
The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Monday (May 5) amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The UN has already issued a statement condemning the Pahalgam terror attack. According to the details provided by the Pakistan Foreign Ministry, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and will provide details from its side to draw the attention of the United Nations to the developments that have occurred since the Pahalgam terror attack.
“Pakistan will try to explain the truth to the international community about this fundamental diplomatic move,” Pakistan, a non-permanent member of the Security Council, announced. It is known that India, which believed that Pakistan was behind the Pahalgam attack, imposed diplomatic sanctions on the country. One of these was the termination of the Indus Waters Treaty. India said that it had evidence of Pakistan’s connection to the Pahalgam attack. However, Daiyadi denied any connection and demanded an impartial investigation. Moreover, Pakistani leaders are threatening that India is ready to retaliate against them and that they have also prepared nuclear weapons.
India, which warned Pakistan at the United Nations a week ago, said that it was misusing this international forum and making false allegations. In this context, India has also provided information to the eight non-permanent members of the Security Council as part of its diplomatic efforts. Intelligence sources have identified that the Pakistani army is moving terrorists in PoK to safe areas due to fear of Indian retaliatory attacks.
After the Pahalgam attack, India took several steps against Pakistan. It cancelled the visas of Pakistani citizens and expelled them from the country. It immediately closed the Attari border crossing. In response, Pakistan withdrew from the Shimla Agreement and banned Indian aircraft from flying through its airspace. It also stopped trade with Delhi, both direct and through third countries. Moreover, India rejected the move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. As part of this, it warned that any attempt by India to stop the water would be considered an act of war.
