Digital India Portal: The government is preparing to launch a new digital portal. This portal will allow people to update their name, address and mobile number on important documents like Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID and Driving License. People will not need to visit different offices anymore. All changes will be made at one place through this portal.
Digital India Portal:
Currently, the portal is in the trial stage. A few technical and legal issues are being solved. A major challenge is creating a strong system to protect people’s data. Officials say the solution is almost ready.
This new system links Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License, Passport and other ID cards together. To update any detail, a person needs to log into the portal and select the option they want. For example, there will be a separate option to change mobile numbers. There will be another option to change address. Related documents must be uploaded. After verification, the changes will reflect across all ID cards within three working days.
The portal will also provide an option to apply for a new ID card. After paying the required fee, a person can apply through the portal. The updated card will be sent by post within seven working days. For those who prefer visiting an office, that option will remain available too. After selecting the office visit option, the portal will inform the person about the date and time to collect the updated card.
In the recent trial runs, the portal achieved more than 92% accuracy. The final launch will happen once it reaches 98% accuracy. Officials plan to start public testing soon. After a few months of public testing, the service will be fully available to everyone.
The final name of the portal is not decided yet. It will be announced after completing the final round of testing. People across the country can expect this service to be available soon.
This portal is expected to make updating personal details easier, faster and safer than ever before.
