Green Metro in Andhra Pradesh:
A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model will be used to carry out both projects, with the Center providing 40% of the funds and private developers providing the remaining 60%. This methodology seeks to promote private sector involvement and guarantee effective project execution.
The “Green Metro” concept, which aims to achieve near-zero carbon emissions and minimize environmental effect, is one of the Visakhapatnam Metro’s distinguishing features. The project design incorporates sustainable practices like using energy-efficient lighting and equipment, deploying regenerative braking systems in trains, and placing solar photovoltaic panels on station rooftops and viaducts. Additionally, metro stations are being designed to satisfy the Indian Green Building Council’s Platinum certification requirements, demonstrating a strong focus on environmental responsibility.
