Warangal Girl Cracks UPSC AIR 11: Ittaboina Sai Shivani from Warangal made her mark in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. She secured the All India 11th rank, becoming the top ranked candidate from the Telugu speaking states.
Sai Shivani achieved this rank without joining any coaching institute. She did not use a personal mobile phone to stay away from distractions. She focused only on her preparation using online materials. Shivani’s success brought pride to her family and her hometown.
Family Background and Early Education
Shivani belongs to a middle class family. Her father, Raj Kumar, works as a medical representative. Her mother is a homemaker. She has two siblings. Shivani studied PUC at Triple IT in Kadapa and completed her B.Tech in 2022. Her father worked hard to support the family and her education.
Aim to Become an IAS Officer
Inspired by her parents’ struggles, Shivani set a clear goal to become an IAS officer. She prepared for UPSC with a strict self study routine. At the same time, she appeared for the Telangana Group 1 exams. She achieved 21st rank in Group 1 but stayed focused on her UPSC goal.
Failed Once but Came Back Stronger
Shivani failed in her first attempt at Civil Services in 2022. Some advised her to join coaching, but financial issues held her back. Instead of giving up, she began self-preparation at home. She collected study materials online and built her schedule. Her determination led to success in her second attempt.
Topper from Telugu States
Shivani secured the 11th rank nationwide. Over 50 candidates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana cleared the exam, but she stood out as the highest ranked among them. Warangal citizens celebrated her success.
Discipline and Focus Led to Success
Shivani studied without owning a mobile phone. She borrowed her college phone only to contact family. Even now, she uses her father’s phone to stay in touch with friends. She avoided social media completely. For current affairs, she followed newspapers and TV news.
Sai Shivani believes strong focus and hard work can lead to great results. She advises students to set a clear goal and stay dedicated to achieve it.
