Weather Alert: Thunderstorm Alert for Bengaluru Till April 15

Weather Alert: Due to thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow advisory for Bengaluru. In addition to that, they have advised several other Karnataka districts. With thunderstorms predicted, the IMD issued a yellow signal for Bengaluru today.


Residents in Bengaluru should anticipate thunderstorms with lightning and squally winds today and tomorrow, according to the regional weather office.

IMD Alert for Benguluru:
One upper air cyclonic circulation is still present over South Assam, while another is located over the central regions of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in the lower troposphere, according to an April 13 advisory from the IMD.


For Bengaluru, this cyclonic circulation is predicted to bring rain. Following that, thunderstorms and usually overcast skies. A yellow signal has also been issued for places like Mysore.

Other Cities To Be Affected:
A western disturbance with an upper cyclonic circulation above southeast Madhya Pradesh, from which a trough descends to central Telangana, was also warned of by the IMD.

An official from the department disclosed that, “A Western Disturbance is also present as a trough in the westerlies in middle tropospheric levels, roughly along longitude 81°E and north of latitude 21°N. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Madhya Pradesh, from which a trough runs down to central Telangana. Another trough extends from the central parts of West Rajasthan to the same cyclonic circulation over southeast Madhya Pradesh. In addition, a separate trough runs from central parts of Bihar to North Coastal Odisha in the lower tropospheric levels. These combined systems are contributing to the prevailing instability and thunderstorm activity across parts of Karnataka and adjoining regions.”

Expected Rainfall In States:
The IMD added that light to moderate rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Beginning today, the weather might last for at least five days.

In addition, throughout the next three days, Kerala and Mahe are anticipated to have isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph.
