A pastor from a church in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, has been detained on charges of sexually abusing two children in Kerala’s Munnar. Last night, John Jebaraj, a pastor at Coimbatore’s Kings Generation Church, was taken into custody. He was remanded in judicial detention after appearing in court today.
Jebaraj, 37, has a sizable social media following and had been avoiding arrest for several months. After pursuing him to Munnar, the Central All Women Police Station in Coimbatore arrested him. The Coimbatore City Police has previously organized many squads to find him. Additionally, a lookout notice had been issued to prevent Jebaraj from leaving the nation.
The strict Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) is the legal basis for Jebaraj’s charges. It has been learned that he has been charged with severe sexual assault.
Pastor Jebaraj Faces Minor Assault Charges:
Reports state that in May of last year, Jebaraj allegedly attacked the children at a party held at his house in Coimbatore. Recently, one of the victims told a family member about what had happened. The Central All-Women Police Station thereafter received a complaint.
This occurs just days after Punjabi priest Bajinder Singh was found guilty of rape in 2018 and given a life sentence. The complainant had claimed that Bajinder Singh had raped her at his house in Mohali after luring her with the promise of taking her overseas. Additionally, she said that Singh recorded the conduct and threatened to share it on social media.

“One young girl has reported the abuse to the child welfare committee,” a senior police officer told media. We’re looking into it.” Jebaraj recently requested anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court. He denied the accusations, saying they were made by his estranged wife. The pair is currently going through a divorce.
