Sudiksha Konanki is a 20-year-old, permanent citizen of the United States. She was born and brought up in India but after a few years, she moved to the US. She is studying at the University of Pittsburgh.
Sudiksha Konanki and her friends on a spring break to RIU Hotel & Resort. This resort is very near to Puna Cana Beach where she went missing. According to the reports she was seen in the footage recorded by the surveillance cameras walking with Joshua Riibe around 4.15 am.
Joshua Riibe is a senior at Minnesota’s St Cloud State University, he is a mutual friend to Konanki and he and other friends joined in this spring vacation. In the surveillance video konanki and Riibe were seen holding hands and walking and other friends were nearby to the location from where she went missing.
After a point of time,e all the friends left the beach and came back to the hotel leaving Konanki and Riibe near the beach. According to the reports given by Riibe to officials, there were rough waters and because of that, he lost sight of her in the darkness. He also said that he tried so much to bring back her but couldn’t save her.
According to the sources, Joshua Riibe was investigated for more than six hours but there was no substantial evidence to prove him as a suspect.
In his reports given to the officials, he said that his first meeting with Konanki was in the hotel itself when his friends introduced in front of the group. Following the meeting in the hotel, all the friends went to a bar and got drunk. He also said that someone in the group suggested going to the beach.
In his interview with Dominican Republic officials, he said, he was pushed away by the strong waves and she also got tired of swimming.
According to Dominican Republic Reports, they have no one to consider as a suspect in Konanki’s missing case. Officials have also cleared that this is a missing case, not a criminal case.
But the main issue arose when her parents asked the police to declare her as dead. Many people on social media are asking a similar question, “Why are her parents asking police to report her as dead?”
