Second Indian to Reach Space: India is going to have another big achievement in space. Indian Air Force officer Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was selected by the US space agency NASA to go to the International Space Station. Now, NASA has announced the date for its Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4). NASA will launch its mission from the Florida Space Station in May 2025. Let us tell you that Shubhanshu Shukla is originally from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. He was born on 10 October 1985. He is a skilled fighter pilot who has experience flying for more than 2 thousand hours.
NASA has also shared a post on its social media handles. Apart from Captain Shubhanshu, 3 more astronauts are seen in this post. Captain Shubhanshu will take over as the mission pilot on the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The mission will be led by Peggy Whitson, who has previously gone to space. Apart from these, Shubhanshu, Tibor Kapu, and Savoj Ujnansky-Visniewski are also included in the mission.

Captain Shubhanshu joined the Indian Air Force in 2006 and became a test pilot. He has experience flying many aircraft and fighter jets of the Indian Army. He has flown many fighter jets like the MiG-21, Su-30 MKI, and Jaguar. Shubhanshu received training from Russia’s Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in 2019. He has also been selected for ISRO’s Gaganyaan mission. After NASA’s mission, Shubhanshu Shukla will become the second Indian astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS). This is considered a major achievement for Indian history.

Shubhanshu Shukla’s early education was from the Montessori School in Lucknow. He was very smart in studies from the beginning. During schooling, he was selected for the National Defense Academy (NDA). Since childhood, he has been interested in technology and aviation. He did B.Tech from the National Defense Academy. After this, he did a post-graduation from IISc Bangalore. In 2006, he became a part of the fighter wing of the Air Force and was promoted to Captain in March 2024. In 2019, Shubhanshu was selected for the Gaganyaan mission.
