Aadhaar for Kids: In Telangana, Aadhaar enrollment for children aged 0 to 5 has been getting rejected for the last three months. Parents are making repeated visits to Aadhaar centers. Their goal is to secure Aadhaar for their children so they can be added to newly issued ration cards. Without Aadhaar, adding children to any government record is impossible.
Aadhaar is required for almost every service. It is essential for school admissions, Anganwadi registration, vaccinations and government schemes. Parents without Aadhaar face rejection when applying for these services. New ration cards are being issued after ten years in the state and families are desperate to get their children included.
The biggest reason behind these Aadhaar rejections is a technical problem in the QR code of birth certificates. These QR codes are supposed to link the child’s data to UIDAI systems. Aadhaar centers scan the QR code during enrollment. The system fails to process the old certificates, leading to rejection of applications.
Many parents report receiving SMS alerts saying enrollment failed due to invalid certificates. They are confused and frustrated. They fear missing the chance to apply for ration cards. Some worry that Aadhaar may never be issued if this continues.
Certificates issued before February 2025 from Meeseva are not being recognized by UIDAI. The QR code on these certificates is not linked properly. AI systems used by UIDAI cannot fetch or validate the details. This has led to large scale enrollment failures across Telangana.
Officials suggest a solution. Parents must revisit Meeseva centers and request a reprint of the birth certificate. The new versions come with updated QR codes. These are fully integrated with UIDAI’s backend system. Successful Aadhaar generation becomes possible with this update.
During recent retraining sessions held for Aadhaar staff, this QR code issue was discussed in detail. Officials confirmed that outdated QR codes fail UIDAI validation. New digital formats introduced by the Telangana government have resolved the issue from February 2025 onwards.
Without Aadhaar, children cannot access mid-day meal schemes, education, healthcare or welfare programs. Government benefits remain blocked. Many parents fear they may have to wait another decade for the next ration card drive if they miss this one.
Many parents are still unaware of the QR code issue. Public awareness drives and clear instructions at Aadhaar centers can help avoid confusion. Meeseva staff must also be trained to explain the importance of reprinting birth certificates.
