Wrong UPI Transfer:
In today’s digital world, UPI payments have become very common. Apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm make it easy to transfer money. But sometimes, we may send money to the wrong UPI ID or mobile number by mistake. If this happens, you don’t have to panic. There are simple steps you can take to get your money back.
First, try to contact the person who received the money. If you know them, a polite request may solve the issue quickly. But if the person doesn’t respond or you don’t know them, you will have to take further action.
Next, go to the payment app you used. Open the “Help” or “Support” section and register a complaint. You must share the transaction ID, recipient’s UPI ID, amount sent, and the date. Most apps have special teams to solve such problems.
If the app does not solve your issue, contact NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India). Visit the NPCI website and go to the “Dispute Redressal Mechanism” section. Fill out the form with all transaction details and upload proof like bank statements. Make sure to select “wrong account transfer” as the reason.
Still no help? Try contacting the payment service provider (like the bank linked to your UPI app), then your own bank. If nothing works, finally reach out to the RBI Ombudsman, especially if the problem is not solved within 30 days.
You should also keep track of your complaint’s status regularly, either through the app or your bank.
To avoid such mistakes in the future, always double-check the UPI ID or number before sending money. Save trusted contacts and consider setting a limit on your daily transfers.
By following these steps, you can recover your money safely and avoid future mistakes.
