Microsoft Fraud Exposed: An X user known for spotting and catching scammers confronted a Microsoft scammer who defrauds people with desktop pop-ups. The user, @NanoBaiter, exposed the suspected scammer’s methods by hacking into his webcam and desktop feed. Police responded to the disclosure and took action. Reports identified the accused as Gaurav Trivedi, a resident of Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh.
@NanoBaiter claimed in a string of posts on X that he exposed Trivedi’s “Microsoft support scam.” In the first post, he wrote, “Meet Gaurav Trivedi, an Indian scammer who poses as Microsoft support and preys on defenseless, vulnerable people.” He added that he hacked into Trivedi’s laptop and activated his live camera after Trivedi tried to con him out of money.
The X user further explained how Trivedi defrauds people. He said, “Gaurav runs a traditional Microsoft tech support scam out of his apartment complex in Raebareli, India. It starts with a fake pop-up that locks your screen, makes a loud warning sound, and tells you to contact ‘Microsoft’ immediately or risk losing all your data.”

Trivedi uses programs like AnyDesk or TeamViewer to deceive individuals into granting him remote access to their computers. However, @NanoBaiter hacked into his system and turned his method against him. Using Trivedi’s webcam, the X user captured a clear image of his face. In addition, he used an active WiFi card to track Trivedi’s location.
Furthermore, @NanoBaiter shared a video of Trivedi’s reaction after being confronted. He wrote, “I confronted Gaurav via his webcam. When I called him out in real time, this was his live response.” Moreover, @raebarelipolice replied to one of the tweets, stating, “The officer in charge of the cyber police station has been directed to investigate and take necessary action.”
