The Conjuring to Get a Prequel After Last Rites Success

The Conjuring Prequel: The next part of the ‘The Conjuring’ film series will see the return of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren on the big screen. It is reported that a short film director, Rodrigue Huart, is in talks with Warner Bros. for the prequel direction.

According to media sources, franchise veterans Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg will write the screenplay. The pair is well-known for co-writing the two most recent “The Conjuring” movies, “The Nun II” (2023) and “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” which came out this September. Deals have not yet been finalized.

The Conjuring Prequel Update:

The Conjuring: Last Rites was originally told to everyone as the last episode of the paranormal series, but that idea was soon abandoned. For this film, the sequel was never ignored, as this had huge popularity all over the world. As per the reports, this franchise has made a whopping 487 million dollars worldwide.

Since ‘Last Rites’ seems to wrap up the Warren family’s saga, it is unknown if Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will return. It is anticipated that this next film will be a prequel, going back in time to concentrate on the early years of the ghost-hunting duo. The main roles in “The Conjuring” Universe will probably be filled by new actors as a result of this change in emphasis.

The Conjuring Universe as a Television Series:
Separately, HBO is creating a television series that will carry on the plotlines started in the feature films, bringing the world of “The Conjuring” to the small screen. The project just hired Nancy Won to be the show’s writer, executive producer, and showrunner, while the narrative details are still unknown.

The Conjuring Universe Box-Office Collections:
At $2.7 billion, the ‘The Conjuring’ universe has become the highest-grossing horror franchise in history, spanning nine films (including spin-offs like ‘Annabelle’ and ‘The Nun’). Additionally, they frequently have low budgets, which results in extremely high profit margins. The tilted property was conceived by James Wan, and Peter Safran has produced each part.
