Nina Dobrev, 35, a Hollywood actress best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, has announced her engagement to American 38-year-old Olympic medalist Shaun White. The actor posted beautiful photographs of the proposal with a humorous comment. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Dobrev’s The Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley, and other celebrities congratulated the newly engaged couple.

Nina Dobrev posted, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiance,” alongside photographs of the proposal. During her big moment, the actor wore a shimmering black dress with matching thin stockings.

White, too, released images of the moment he got down on one knee to propose. “She said yes,” he added, uploading further photographs.

Shaun White had made multiple previous efforts to propose to Nina Dobrev. However, his plans were never realised. According to Vogue, White this time tried to be as covert as possible with his intentions, shifting the five-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring about the house to evade Nina’s gaze. And he succeeded.

“I went into shock. I just froze and stared at him,” Dobrev told the portal, recalling the proposal. She added, “He said all the right things.”

For a while, the pair kept the proposal a secret from the outer world. In fact, Dobrev would remove the ring every time she went out until she chose not to wear it anymore. “I don’t want to take it off anymore,” the actor stated before ultimately making her engagement Instagram official on October 30.
