A day ago, popular Tollywood comedian and writer Posani Krishna Murali was arrested by the Andhra police for abusive comments against top Telugu Desam Party leaders. Now, after this sensational arrest, the Andhra cops have targeted ysr Congress party leader and former Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav.
Reports indicate that Vijayawada cyber crime police visited Madhav’s residence in Anantapur district on Thursday. According to sources, they issued him a notice under Section 35/3 of the BNS, requiring him to appear before the cyber crime police headquarters on March 5.
This notice was served to the former MP nearly three months after a complaint was filed by former Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma. She alleged that Madhav had revealed the names of rape victims during a press conference.
In her complaint, Padma specifically mentioned a vernacular Telugu news channel that had posted the press conference on YouTube. After resigning from the YSRCP following the assembly elections in June of last year, she met with NTR District Commissioner of Police SV Rajashekhar Babu to file her complaint.
In an interview with the television channel, Padma said Madhav revealed the identities of six rape victims, including two children. In just 11 days, the video received over 12,000 views before being taken down, she said. Padma underlined that Madhav’s compromising of the identity of several rape victims made this a grave infraction.
