Sleeveless Jerseys Ban in IPL 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented certain aspects of its newly introduced standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the 10 participating teams ahead of IPL 2025. These guidelines include a ban on players wearing ‘floppies and sleeveless jerseys’ during post-match award ceremonies.
According to the report, the BCCI has taken this step to maintain formal and professional behaviour during official ceremonies. India Today has access to the documents with the SOPs for ‘practice during the tournament, ‘match days, ‘ and ‘jersey numbers. ‘
After India’s defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil, the Indian board imposed several rules, including a ban on personal managers travelling with the team on the bus, as well as a restriction on the number of family members of players during the tour.
With regards to the families of the players, they will not be allowed inside the dressing rooms on training days either. While the same SOPs may not be implemented in a multi-team competition like the IPL, many of these guidelines have been incorporated in the world’s leading T20 leagues.
1. Teams will get 2 nets in the practice area and 1 side wicket on the main square where they can practice range hitting. For the Mumbai ground, if both teams are practicing at the same time, teams will get 2 wickets each.
2. No open nets will be allowed.
3. If a team finishes its practice early, the other team is not allowed to use the wicket for practice.
4. Practice will not be allowed on match days.
5. There will be no fitness test on the main square on match days.
6. On practice days (pre-tournament and during the tournament), only accredited staff is allowed in the dressing room and field of play.
7. Family members and friends of the player may travel in a separate vehicle and watch the team practice from the hospitality area.
8. The list for extended support staff (throw down specialists/net bowlers) must be submitted to the BCCI for approval. Once approved, non-match day accreditations will be issued for the same.
9. Players will have to use the team bus while commuting for practice. Teams may travel in two groups.
10. The venue manager will be the POC for any requests related to practice and fitness tests on match days.
