India is the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Winner. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand in a nail-biting final thriller at the Dubai International Stadium. Rohit Sharma-led India continued its domination and winning streak in the Champions Trophy. Throughout the tournament, India remained unbeaten and became the Champions Trophy 2025 winner.
Although the toss didn’t favor India for the fifteenth time in a row, a collective effort in all departments helped India clinch the trophy. Batting first, the Kiwis had a slow start and lost wickets regularly. Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson, the centurions in the previous game, got out early. The Black Caps found it difficult to dominate the Indian bowlers. By grabbing wickets in quick regulars, India succeeded in not allowing the New Zealand batters to free their arms. However, Daryl Mitchell and Micheal Bracewell fought towards the end and helped their team post a decent total of 251.
With a target of 252, India had a good start, with skipper Rohit Sharma (76) and Shubhman Gill (1) taking the charge. A solid partnership between the openers kept India in a strong position. Although Virat Kohli got out for just 1, the following batters ensured India was on the track. Shreyas Iyer (48), Axar Patel (29), KL Rahul (33*), and Hardik Pandya (18) played responsible innings. Ravindra Jadeja (9) finished the match with a boundary.
With this win, India lifts its third Champions Trophy. In the previous edition of the Champions Trophy in 2017, India lost to Pakistan. By winning this trophy hosted by Pakistan, India achieved sweet revenge and poetic justice.
India entered the Champions Trophy 2025 after a disappointing campaign in Australia. The wins against Pakistan and Australia made India the favorites. By not losing a single match in the campaign, India rightly deserved to be crowned the new champions. Rohit Sharma is the Player of the Match, and Rachin Ravindra grabbed the Player of the Series.
