List of Cricketers Playing From IPL 2008 to IPL 2025
The Indian Premiere League is now entering its eighteenth edition. The world’s biggest T20 cricket tournament has grown leaps and bounds over the last eighteen years. The most lucrative event saw cricket giants like Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrist, Jacques Kallis, Shoaib Akhtar, and Rahul Dravid in action. It also provided a platform for players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, David Miller, and others. However, you will be surprised that some cricketers actively play from IPL 2008 to IPL 2025. They managed to stay fit and relevant from then to now.
You would be surprised to know that a few players have played from the inaugural season to the current edition. The longevity they carried is phenomenal. Their ability to remain competitive for so long and accomplish at a high level for an extended period makes them the real OGs. Here are some players who are part of IPL 2008 to IPL 2025.
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is the only player to play for one franchise throughout his career in IPL. He entered RCB in the IPL 2008 as India’s U-19 world-cup winning captain. Today, he holds the record for scoring the most runs in the Indian Premier League. He is the first and only player to score 8000 IPL runs. Kohli went God mode in 2016 and amassed 973 runs in just one season. With four centuries, he single-handedly took his team to the finals but lost to SRH. Despite appearing in three finals, RCB and Virat are yet to win the title.
MS Dhoni
Although the former Indian skipper bid farewell to all formats of cricket in 2020, he is still playing for IPL. The 43-year-old holds the record for playing the most number of matches in IPL. Interestingly, he has been playing for CSK from 2008 to now, except for 2016-2017, when CSK was banned. MS Dhoni is the most successful captain in IPL history. He led CSK to five victories. CSK and MI hold the record for winning the most titles.
Rohit Sharma
Rohit debuted with Deccan Charges but moved to MI in 2011. Since then, he has been a permanent member of MI and guided it to five trophy wins.
R Ashwin
Ashwin, a long-time associate of CSK, is currently part of RR. With his unique skill and smart strategy, Ashwin always remained ahead of the game. He has been an asset to every team for his all-around abilities. Ashwin is now back to CSK, his forte.
Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja is another spinner who has played for 18 seasons as a member of the inaugural IPL-winning team RR. An active member of CSK for the last 7 years, Ravindra Jadeja, guided CSK to several memorable victories.
Ishan Sharma
Ishant Sharma is the only fast bowler on the list for playing IPL for so long. Although he has changed several teams in the past, he hasn’t tasted much success in the tournament.
Ajinkya Rahane
The former Indian player is leading KKR in the present edition. Ajinkya Rahaned has played for several franchises, but he redefined himself while playing for CSK in 2023 and 2024.
Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey grabbed all the headlines when he became the first Indian player to score a century in IPL. His 94 in the 2014 final for KKR guided the franchise to clinch the title. He hasn’t missed a single season.
Swapnil Singh
Although Swapnil has been part of IPL since 2008, it took him 8 years to debut in 2016. Swapnil had a fantastic IPL last year with RCB.
