During his recent match on Sunday, March 23 Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma was ducked out in the first four balls during his match in IPL 2025. He didn’t give a powerful comeback to IPL after nine months. Rohit Sharma missed a flick shot against Khaleel Ahmed and got caught at the mid-wicket by Shivam Dube.
According to the reports this is his 18th duck in the tournament’s history. He is now in the top following Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik in the second and third to have joint most ducks to his name in IPL history. After there was much speculation that Rohit might leave the franchise, Mumbai decided to keep him for Rs 16.30 crore before the season began. Before the 2023 tournament, the opening batsman gave up his captaincy to Hardik Pandya, and he is now playing his second straight season as a pure batter.
Last season, Rohit had a tremendous campaign, scoring more than 400 runs for the first time since 2019. For the first time since 2012, the opening batsman did not have to worry about captaincy. He amassed 417 runs at an average of 32.07 from 14 innings, including a century and fifty. In the past, his batting gloves went viral on the internet as they were written as “SAR.” Fans started guessing his wife and two kids’ names on them.
To get CSK off to a fantastic start, Khaleel struck again in his second over, forcing Ryan Rickelton (13 off 7) to hack one back onto his stumps. After a ten-year absence, Ravichandran Ashwin also scored in his first over upon rejoining CSK, outsmarting Will Jacks with a carrom ball (11 off 7) and getting him holed out at mid-off. MI ended the powerplay on 52/3 following three early hits.
