The role of the captain in T20s, especially in a big event like IPL is of immense importance and pressure. Whether devising plans or implementing strategies, skippers are busy both on and off the field. From managing players to making critical decisions, they have a huge role in shaping a team’s culture. However, it is the victories that determine the abilities and success of a captain. In this article, we will look at captains with the most consecutive wins in IPL.

Gautam Gambhir – The current Indian head coach and former KKR skipper tops the list with 10 consecutive wins in a season. He achieved this feat in the IPL 2014-15 edition when he led KKR to seven wins in 2014 and continued three in the 2015 edition before RCB handed over a loss. Gautam Gambhir also holds the record to win six wins in a row in IPL 2012.

However, KKR did not retain him for 2025 and Shreyas moved to Punjab Kings. PBKS had a brilliant start to the Tata IPL 2025 and won its first two games.

MS Dhoni – Under Dhoni’s leadership, the Chennai Super Kings won five titles in IPL history. Dhoni led CSK to 7 straight wins in 2013 and 6 consecutive wins in 2014 and 2019.
