In an attempt to attract Indian tourists, China is working hard. As of April 9, more than 85,000 Indian citizens have received visas from the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in India. The action is a part of China’s endeavors to make travel easier for Indians who wish to visit the nation. Calling them “friends,” Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong encouraged more Indians to travel to China and see the nation.
Over 85,000 visas have been granted by the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in India to Indian nationals visiting China this year as of April 9, 2025. In a post on X on Sunday, he said, “Welcome more Indian friends to come to China and see an open, safe, lively, genuine, and friendly China.”

The Chinese ambassador had declared earlier in March that the nation had granted more than 50,000 Indians visas.
Feihong had stated at the time, “We welcome more Indian friends to visit China and get a first-hand experience of China in spring, while flowers blossom in spring.”
Indian Visa Requirements For China:
They have made several changes to the visa requirements for Indian nationals in recent months. Among other things, the new Chinese visa regulations eliminate the need for online appointments and lower visa costs. Travel across the nations is being made easier by the actions being taken.
For Indians, the following easy Chinese visa regulations apply:
No More Online Appointments: To expedite and streamline the visa application process, Indians applying for Chinese visas will no longer be required to make an online appointment.
Biometric Exemption: If an Indian applicant wishes to travel to China for a short time, they no longer have to provide their biometric information, which speeds up the visa application procedure.
Faster Processing: To guarantee faster approvals and a more seamless procedure, China has also shortened the timeframe for visa approvals.
Lower Visa Costs: To allow more Indian visitors to China, Chinese visa costs have also been lowered.
Encouragement of Tourism: To attract more Indian tourists, the Chinese Embassy in India and other international authorities are promoting Chinese travel.
India-China Tourism Agreement:
India and China decided in January of this year to cooperate on settling trade and economic disputes and to resume direct aviation flights after almost five years. Following a meeting between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s senior diplomat Vikram Misri, the decision was made. A framework for the planes’ restart at an “early date” would be negotiated by both parties, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
Following the 2020 encounter between troops along their border in the Himalayas, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese, tensions between China and India had deteriorated. However, since an agreement to lift a military standoff on the Himalayan border was reached in October—the same month that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping conducted meetings in Russia—relations have improved.
