Thaman: Music director Thaman is currently busy with many crazy projects. This year, he has already entertained with music for the films Game Changer, Daaku Maharaaj and Noor. He has also given music for the Hindi film ‘Jaat’ along with the background score for ‘Mad Square’. He is currently working on more than half a dozen films. There is talk that he is charging a huge fee to meet the demand. In a recent interview, Thaman spoke about his first remuneration.
Thaman is at the forefront of the most wanted music directors in the South industry. On the one hand, he composes chartbuster songs and on the other hand, he gives amazing BGM. That is why, no matter how much criticism he gets for being a copycat, his demand does not decrease at all. Currently, he has crazy projects in his hands. He is taking remuneration in crores for each film. However, he recently revealed the details of his first remuneration.
Thaman recently participated as a guest in a chit chat show hosted by anchor Suma. He shared some interesting things related to his film career and personal life. He said that his film journey started with the film ‘Bhairava Dweep’ starring Nandamuri Balakrishna as the hero, and he was 11 years old at that time. Thaman said that he received only Rs. 30 as his first salary for this film.
“I started playing drums when I was 4 years old, and started my profession when I was 8-9 years old. I used to go to birthday parties and play drums. They used to pay me Rs 10-25. At the age of eleven, I worked for the film ‘Bhairava Dweep’. On the first day, I was paid Rs 30. They gave me three new ten rupee notes. At that time, payments were given on the spot. I worked for that film for about nine days. So in 1994, I earned Rs 270 for that film,” says Thaman.
Thaman said that when his father died, very few people from the industry came to see him, and Shivamani Ayyappamala brought him a lot. He said that he did not feel like crying at the moment his father died, he thought about how to take care of his mother and sister, but when he saw Shivamani, he became emotional and cried. He said that he did about 7 thousand stage shows with Shivamani and SP Balasubrahmanyam. Thaman said that Balu and Shivamani are his two eyes.
Thaman is currently composing music for Pawan Kalyan’s OG, Prabhas’ ‘The Rajasaab’ and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Akhanda 2’. Sidhu Jonnalagadda is doing the movie ‘Telusu Kada’. He is also not only composing music for the Tamil film ‘Idayam Murali’ but is also making a re-entry as an actor. It is said that Simbu has sung the song ‘Fire Storm’ in this film.
