Prabhas’ Fauji Heroine: A recent terror attack in Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir has shocked the entire nation. Innocent people lost their lives, and the public is deeply saddened and angry. Many Indians are demanding strong action against terrorism including another surgical strike on Pakistan, as early reports suggest Pakistan’s involvement in the attack.
The film industry has also reacted strongly. Actors and filmmakers from Bollywood and Tollywood have expressed sorrow and condemned the attack. However incident has now taken an unexpected turn on social media. People have started targeting actress Iman Esmail who plays the heroine in Prabhas’ upcoming movie “Fauji”.
Why is Iman in the spotlight?
Reports say Iman Esmail also known as Imanvi is the daughter of a former Pakistani military officer. Though her family now lives in the United States, her Pakistani roots have led to heavy criticism online. Many people are asking for her removal from the movie, saying Pakistani actors should not be given roles in Indian films especially after such attacks.
On the other hand, some netizens are supporting Iman saying it’s unfair to blame her for what happened in Pahalgam. They believe her personal background should not affect her career, especially when she has no link to terrorism.
This is Iman’s first film. Before this, she became popular through dance videos on social media. She is trained in Western, Bharatanatyam, and Kuchipudi dance forms. Her talent helped her earn a role in “Fauji”, a big opportunity for her.
Fauji is a Telugu film starring Prabhas in leas role and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi after blockbuster film Sita Ramam. It is a period war drama set in the 1970s focusing on themes of war, justice and the journey of a soldier. The film is being produced on a large scale with a reported budget of Rs 400 crore.
