Retro Day 1 Box Office Collections: Suriya’s much-awaited movie Retro, Karthik Subbaraj’s script and direction, is out at last. With expectations running so high on how it was going to do at the box office, all eyes were on getting an update on if the movie was going to be the superstar’s box office return or not. Day-one collections suggest a decent start, but will that prove to be sufficient in witnessing his return?
Retro raked in ₹19.25 crore on day one from all language versions in India. The Tamil opening raked in ₹17.25 crore, followed by ₹1.95 crore from the Telugu and ₹0.05 crore from the Hindi ones. The movie rocked the masses with an astonishing 78.89% occupancy rate for the Tamil performances.
Despite its promising start, Retro faced competition from Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, which recorded a higher opening of ₹29.25 crore. Additionally, Nani’s HIT 3 secured ₹18 crore on its debut, making the battle at the box office even more intense. Retro has managed to stand its ground, but sustaining its momentum over the weekend will be crucial.
