Retro Box Office Collection Day 3: Suriya-Starrer Fails to Pick Up Pace

Retro Box Office Collection Day 3: Suriya-Starrer Fails to Pick Up Pace

Retro Box Office Collection Day 3: Suriya’s Retro, the year’s most eagerly awaited film, had a good opening at the box office but appears to be struggling to sustain its momentum. The third-day collections of the film have been small, with little growth, even though it has crossed the ₹30 crore mark. Industry observers are keenly observing whether the film can hold on to its presence in the days to come.

Day 3 Box Office Collection

On its third day, Retro garnered around ₹8.50 crore, taking its total collection to around ₹34.25 crore. Although this is an improvement, the improvement has been low relative to opening day collections. The movie enjoyed a whopping ₹19.25 crore opening day but saw its collections plummet on day two with only ₹7.50 crore. Even efforts to get back on track fail as the numbers suggest that viewer interest has been uneven.

Possible Reasons for the Slow Growth

Several factors could be contributing to the film’s sluggish box office performance:

Strong Competition – Retro faces stiff competition from other ongoing releases, making it challenging to dominate screens.

Word-of-Mouth Impact – While the action sequences and Suriya’s performance have been praised, some audiences feel the film’s storyline lacks freshness, affecting repeat viewership.

Piracy Concerns – Reports of leaked copies circulating online may have impacted theatre footfall.

Weekday Effect – As the initial hype dies down, weekday collections dip unless there is robust word-of-mouth that creates a revival.

Can Retro Recover?

Though it is growing at a slow pace, Retro can still recover. If weekend collections improve on the back of family audiences or good word-of-mouth gains momentum, the film can stabilize in the next few weeks. Overseas business, satellite rights, and digital streaming revenue may also help it achieve overall success.

Though Retro has broken the ₹30 crore barrier, its box office ride is not turning out to be easy. The next few days will be pivotal in ascertaining whether the movie keeps the momentum going or loses steam in the face of competition. With Suriya’s star appeal and proper promotional thrust, Retro can still change things around.
