Thudarum: Mohanlal’s second ₹100 crore film of 2025

Mohanlal was the first Malayalam actor to have two films grossing over the Mohanlal’s second ₹100 crore film mark in a single year with the movie Thudarum. This record-breaking achievement makes him one of the highest box office grossers in the industry.

Thudarum’s incredible box office success:

Released on April 25, 2025, Thudarum opened on a positive note, grossing ₹13.85 crore in the first two days in India. On day 9, the film had grossed ₹62.88 crore locally and hit ₹119.8 crore worldwide. In Kerala, where Mohanlal has a huge fan base, the film grossed ₹47 crore in a week.

Mohanlal’s second ₹100 crore film:

Thudarum, which has crossed ₹100 crore within six days, has created a new box office speed record. It has outperformed numerous earlier Malayalam blockbusters and joined the list of highest-grossing Malayalam films. It has also outperformed Lucifer’s lifetime total (₹128 crore) and left its mark forever.

Mohanlal’s record-breaking success in 2025:

Earlier this year, Mohanlal’s release L2: Empuraan grossed ₹264.9 crore worldwide. With Tudarum, he now holds the record of two ₹100 crore films within one year, the first by Malayalam cinema.

Future prospects and sustained success

In spite of opposition from other big releases, Tudarum remains a crowd puller in Kerala and elsewhere. Even though the second weekend ticket bookings were slow, the film’s future seems bright. If it keeps going, it could join the ₹100 crore India gross club shortly.

Mohanlal’s success with Thudaram will also strengthen his position as Malayalam cinema’s biggest star, pushing the industry to new heights of profitability.
