India’s Next Test Captain: Since Rohit Sharma has retired from Test cricket, India is now confronted with the significant challenge of choosing its next red-ball captain. Since Virat Kohli also retired from test cricket, a lot of names are being bandied about. Shubman Gill is also emerging as a strong contender to captain the team.
25 years old, Gill represents the future of Indian cricket. His temperament, batting style, and ability to handle pressure make him fit to be a natural leader in the making. His leadership skills in the IPL as captain of the Gujarat Titans have already proved that he possesses the potential of strategising, adapting, and inspiring teammates.
Gill’s recent performances have cemented his place within India’s Test squad and included him in contention to lead the team into next year’s World Test Championship. However, his ability to ply his trade outside the country as well as confront stiff opposition will be key issues to determine if he is ready for the challenge.
