IPL 2025 Restart

After a nine-day gap, the Tata IPL is all set to resume today at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. An exhilarating battle between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders will begin the formalities for the second leg of the Indian Premier League. Ahead of the Tata IPL 2025 restart, let us look at the current team positions, relocations, and other updates.

Current Standings
Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at the top of the points table with 16 points each. Both teams have won 8 matches and lost 3 games. However, a better net run rate keeps GT ahead of RCB. GT and RCB are followed by PBKS, MI, and DC, respectively. These teams differ by one point each. Having played one match less than the other two, DC can go up in the points table. The second half of the table has KKR, LSG, SRH, RR, and CSK in the same order. Chennai Super (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are technically out of the league.

The abandoned match between DC and PBKS on May 8 at Dharamsala will be replayed on May 24 in Jaipur. It was suspended midway, given the Indo-Pak conflict intensified when India began Operation Sindoor as a retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. PBKS will play all its next three matches in Jaipur instead of Dharamsala.

Those matches scheduled from May 9 to 16 will be adjusted from today as the IPL 2025 governing body has decided on double headers. There are no changes in the timing. The Qualifier-1 is scheduled on May 29, followed by the Eliminator on May 30, Qualifier-2 on June 1, and the grand final on June 3. However, the venues for these playoff games are yet to be announced.

The remaining matches will be held at Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. While evening games will begin at 7.30 pm IST, the afternoon games will commence at 3.30 pm IST. Unlike the earlier schedule, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata or any of PBKS’ home venues will hold no games.
