Kamal Haasan slams ‘Drona’ of Cinema tag Post Thug Life

Seasoned actor Kamal Haasan, the path-finder of Indian cinema, was recently replied to as having been called the “Drona” of cinema after his recent film, Thug Life. The term, often synonymous with guidance and mentorship, was accused of being used to define his role in shaping cinema. However, Haasan deflected the title, citing his continued transformation as a professional artist and not a guide figure. Kamal Haasan slams ‘Drona’ of Cinema tag Post Thug Life.

Kamal Haasan Kamal Haasan slams ‘Drona’ of Cinema:

In a recent interaction with media, Haasan elucidated that he never thinks of himself as a teacher or mentor in his field. In his opinion, his style of filmmaking is learning and imitating, but not teaching others. He pointed out that cinema is an ensemble art form and all filmmakers and actors bring something unique to the table.

He stated, ”I have learnt alot after I entered the Industry. I have always been a child of Cinema, If I should teach someone, I need to learn more. Now I am learning more and more. I will be learning, all of you can learn with me. But please don’t call me ‘Drona’. I am a child of Cinema’.

Thug Life and His Creative Life
Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life was Haasan’s return to serious storytelling. Based on a dark crime world, he demonstrated his knack for rediscovering himself with every movie. Haasan emphasized that his fascination lies in extending creative frontiers, rather than becoming the master of dominating the business.

Industry Reactions and Fan Support
Where others in the industry look up to Haasan’s humility, some feel his years of experience apparently guide him into becoming a mentor. His fans, though, are with him, valuing his devotion to the art form more than the designation.

Kamal Haasan’s reply to the “Drona” label, thus, establishes his devotion towards artistic development. Instead of accepting tags, he is concerned about providing good films so that his legacy turns out to be self-designed through innovation and not guidance.
