Mani Ratnam Rejected Trisha:
The epic film series Ponniyin Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam, became a big hit around the world. The movie was made in two parts and featured a star-studded cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. Aishwarya Rai played the powerful and mysterious role of Nandini, while Trisha portrayed the wise and graceful Kundavai.

Mani Ratnam Rejected Trisha:

In a past interview, Trisha revealed something interesting. She said that she had asked director Mani Ratnam if she could play Nandini instead of Kundavai. However, Mani Ratnam had already made up his mind. He told Trisha that he had chosen Aishwarya Rai for Nandini’s role from the very beginning. He believed that only Aishwarya could do justice to such a complex and iconic character.

Trisha said she was completely okay with that decision and was actually excited to know Aishwarya would be playing Nandini. Despite wanting the role, Trisha respected the director’s vision and was happy to be part of the project in any capacity. She also performed brilliantly as Kundavai, earning praise from both fans and critics.

The Ponniyin Selvan films, based on the famous Tamil novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, were loved for their storytelling, performances, and grand visuals. They did very well in theatres and are now available to stream on OTT platforms.

Apart from Ponniyin Selvan, Trisha was last seen in a special appearance in the Vijay-starrer GOAT, directed by Venkat Prabhu. Her performance in the song “Matta” was appreciated by the audience.
