THIS New Railway Station in Telangana looks like an Airport

Tandur Railway Station: The work of the ‘Amrit Bharat’ scheme undertaken by the central government for the development of railway stations in Telangana is progressing at a fast pace. Recently , Begumpet, Warangal and Karimnagar railway stations have become available. Recently, the modernization work of Tandur railway station, a key commercial hub in Vikarabad district, has reached the final stage. These works are being done with the aim of providing better facilities to the passengers.

Tandur Railway Station: A 24.4 crore project

Known as a prominent business hub in the district, thousands of passengers from different parts of the country come to Tandur every day. Trains going from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to places like Tirupati, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat, Odisha and Rajasthan pass through Tandur. In the past, passengers used to face difficulties due to the lack of adequate facilities for the congestion here. Recognizing this problem, the central government selected Tandur railway station under the Amrit Bharat scheme last year and sanctioned Rs. 24.4 crore for modernization.

The work is already more than half complete. The old station has been demolished in phases and is currently continuing without any disruption to daily operations. In particular, the flyover and escalator work are in the final stages. This will further facilitate the movement of passengers. The newly constructed flyover will increase the convenience of going from platform one to platform two.

High-tech facilities

Officials are monitoring the work in a planned manner to ensure that there are no disruptions to train movement, signaling system, power supply, telecommunication, ticket booking, internet services, etc. Vehicle parking work is underway in front of the station, and once completed, better parking facilities will be available for passengers. As part of the modernization, escalators, lifts, special facilities for the disabled, rest rooms for passengers, ramps, and honorariums will be set up on the lines of airports.

Also, business groups are also being built for the sale of one station-one products. The authorities have set a target to complete all these works by this year and make them available to the passengers. Keeping in mind the difficulties faced by the passengers due to the lack of benches on platform number one at present, the passengers are demanding temporary benches to be set up until the work is completed. The central government’s initiative for the development of more railway stations and construction of new railway lines in Telangana will contribute to the development of the state.
