Teams Yet to Win IPL Title

Teams Yet to Win IPL Title

Teams Yet to Win IPL Title: The Indian Premier League (IPL), which began in 2008, has given us exciting seasons some momentous performances and even some historic wins. While some franchises have been able to lift the trophy multiple times, there are still a couple of teams searching for their first title. Even more, shockingly, those teams have been to the finals but have not created history as champions of the IPL.

1. Delhi Capitals (DC)

Before they became the Delhi Capitals, this franchise was the Delhi Daredevils. The team has been a part of the IPL since its launch. Despite having some good squads over numerous years, the Delhi Capitals have never lifted the title. In 2020 the team made it to the final but lost to the Mumbai Indians (MI). The franchise is still trying to push itself forward with a combination of youth and experience as they find a way to claim victory.

2. Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Even though the Punjab Kings (PBKS) were known as the Kings XI Punjab before their rebranding, they actually made it to the IPL 2014 final but could not put the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) away. While PBKS has had match-winning players in numerous seasons, the franchise has struggled with consistency. The team is still determined to make it to the winner’s circle to end its drought of trophies in the subsequent seasons.

3. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is a new franchise that started in IPL 2022. Although they have made it to the playoffs of IPL in their first two seasons, they are yet to win the trophy. Bolstered by a talented team and good performances thus far, LSG is still searching for its first title in the IPL.

4. Non-Existent Teams Who Never Won

There have been several other IPL franchises in previous seasons that never won the title before they ceased operations, including:

Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) – Finished as runners-up in 2017.

Gujarat Lions (GL) – Played in 2016 and 2017 without winning.

Pune Warriors India (PWI) – Played from 2011–2013 but could not win.

It takes a combination of teamwork, strategy, and performing consistently over time to win the IPL trophy. While some of these teams have been somewhat close to their IPL moment of glory, they are still longing for it. Each new season, these franchises hope to get to that moment and have that feeling of holding up the IPL trophy.
