Kohli Responds to Stampede Deaths at RCB Victory Parade

RCB Stampede Deaths: A stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru turned the celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2025 triumph deadly on Wednesday, claiming the lives of eleven people. RCB, one of the most popular IPL teams, ended their 18-year title drought by winning in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, prompting the organizers to plan a massive celebration in Bengaluru.


Thousands of fans gathered to welcome their favorite players, and the city arranged an open bus parade. However, the festive atmosphere quickly turned somber. Media reports stated that nearly two lakh people crowded outside the stadium, overwhelming the police, who failed to control the situation. The chaos led to injuries for around forty-five spectators.

Virat Kohli, the face of RCB and a key player in the team’s championship victory, has now responded to the situation. At approximately 10:45 PM, Kohli reposted an RCB statement on Instagram and wrote, “Absolutely gutted.”

In its official statement, RCB expressed deep anguish over the unfortunate incidents reported by the media regarding public gatherings across Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival that afternoon. They emphasized that the safety and well-being of everyone remain their top priority.

RCB mourned the tragic loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Upon learning about the situation, they promptly amended their program and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration.

Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar also expressed sympathy for the “tragic” stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru celebrated winning their first IPL title in eighteen years by defeating Punjab Kings in Tuesday’s final.

Sachin Tendulkar posted from his official X handle, saying, “What happened at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, is beyond tragic. My heart goes out to every affected family. Wishing peace and strength to all.”

Anil Kumble, India’s celebrated spinner, also shared his thoughts on X. He said, “It’s a sad day for cricket!” and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the stampede. He expressed his deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives while celebrating RCB’s triumph and added, “Tragic!”
