Joharfa: On June 24, Mohammed Siraj, India’s fast bowling prodigy, is venturing into a new field; instead of using a cricket ball, he’s using a dish of flavour at the grand opening of Joharfa Restaurant in Hyderabad.
The quick bowler’s restaurant, Joharfa, has just opened in his hometown of Hyderabad and is now open to the public. Located in the energetic center of the city near Tolichowki, Joharfa serves a variety of modern flavors on conventional Hyderabadi fare.
Thousands of foodies, fans, and curious observers crowded the grand opening, eager to see—literally—what Siraj had been cooking up. Many cricketers, celebrities, and regional celebs showed their support at the launch party, a celebrity event.
The name Joharfa has particular significance for the institution. It honors Siraj’s late father, who helped to shape his professional life and early development.
Combining elegance with warmth, the interior design—which features Mughal-style arches, vintage lamps, and classic designs—captures Hyderabad’s cultural essence.
Hyderabadi biryani, haleem, kebabs, and other regional cuisines make up the somewhat large menu at Joharfa. Still, there are fusion choices like chicken tikka sliders and mutton-stuffed parathas with a contemporary twist in addition to the standards.
According to Siraj, the goal is to offer “food that feels like home but surprises you with every bite.”
“This restaurant is a dream come true,” Siraj told the media at the launch. “This is how I have always wanted to help my city—with great cuisine and warm welcome.”
Since it gathers cricket fans and gastronoms, Joharfa is off to a strong beginning. The response to the opening day alone suggests that Siraj could have achieved another victory, this time in the food sector.
