Kannappa Box Office Collection Day 2, Vishnu Manchu’s film failed to pick up the pace at the Indian box office on its day 2. Manchu Vishnu’s highly awaited mythological drama Kannappa enjoyed a thunderous welcome on Day 1. Sacnilk reports that the film collected a solid ₹9.35 crore net and ₹11 crore gross at the Indian box office. Further, Kannappa collected about ₹2 crore from foreign markets, its foreign Day 1 collections reaching ₹13 crore. The intense mythological storyline of the movie, its rich visuals, and tinsel town appearances by A-listers such as Mohanlal and Prabhas appear to have given the theatres the initial boost.
How much did Kannappa earn at the Indian box office in 2 days?
Whereas Day 2 was a Saturday, a traditionally bankable day for the box office. The Kannappa experienced its collection dip. The movie is calculated to have raked in approximately ₹7 crore net from India on its second day. This decline, although commonplace in the industry, calls into question the long-term viability of the movie at the box office.
Any number of reasons could have been responsible for the collections dip. Contradictory reviews by critics and audience could have watered down interest following the initial wave. Additionally, competition from movies released from the same territory as well as Bollywood movies could have divided attention among the audience. The surrounding buzz created due to the mythological theme of the film could also have drawn an opening audience that naturally dwindled on Day 2.
In spite of the Day 2 fall, focus is now on Sunday collections, which might help stabilize the collections of the film. As word-of-mouth continues to be good and family crowds turn up in greater strength, Kannappa might still have a thundering first weekend. A lot will also depend on its performance in the days to come, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 centres where mythological epics find favour.
