Vizag Native Appointed as TANA Trustee:
Satish Meka, a native of Visakhapatnam currently residing in the United States, has been appointed as a trustee of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) Foundation. He will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029. Satish’s selection was made by the TANA election committee and board of directors, and he is also set to play a role in organizing the foundation’s golden jubilee celebrations in 2027.
Satish completed his early education at St. Peter’s School in Gnanapuram and Pendurthi Government Junior College before pursuing his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Visakhapatnam. After moving to the United States about two decades ago, Satish has remained active in various community development activities.
His contributions to education and health in Visakhapatnam are noteworthy. He personally funded the establishment of digital classrooms at St. Peter’s School and other government schools in Visakhapatnam and the Godavari districts. Satish was also involved in adult education initiatives and literacy campaigns in local slums.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Satish provided medical assistance to many in Visakhapatnam. Through the Satwin Inspire Foundation, which he established, he has supported underprivileged students to pursue higher education. Additionally, Satish played a key role in organizing over 100 cancer awareness camps in Telugu-speaking regions. He continues to be an active member of both TANA and the Basavatarakam Cancer Foundation.
As a new trustee, Satish is committed to working for the welfare of the Telugu community in North America and further strengthening the foundation’s efforts.
