Veerender Ram, a young worker at Sigachi Industries’ pharma plant in Pashamylaram, narrowly escaped death in the deadly June 30 explosion. Moments before the blast, Ram stepped out for a tea break. This quick decision saved his life. Unaware of the devastation behind him, he fled with other survivors and returned to his rented home in Isnapur.
Despite surviving, his name stayed on the missing list. Ram left his phone at the factory, which was destroyed in the blast. Workers must deposit phones before shifts, cutting all contact possibilities. This made it hard for officials and family to confirm his safety.
Authorities continue searching for nine missing workers after the blast that claimed at least 38 lives and injured 35. District Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj said debris removal is almost complete. No bodies have surfaced yet, but DNA tests are underway to identify remains.
The expert committee, led by Dr. B Venkateswar Rao, recently inspected the site. They will submit a detailed report within a month. The state government also formed a five-member panel headed by Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao. This panel oversees rescue efforts and probes the incident to prevent future disasters.
Sigachi Industries’ MD Amit Raj Sinha denied using old machinery, dismissing rumors around the cause. The company confirmed that investigations led by Telangana’s Chief Secretary are ongoing, with preliminary findings expected within seven days.
The company announced Rs 1 crore compensation for each family of the deceased. So far, 21 bodies have been released to families, while 19 injured continue receiving advanced medical care. Eleven patients were discharged recently, according to officials.
